DECATUR, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that the
board of directors has appointed D. Cameron Findlay senior vice
president, general counsel and secretary, effective July 15, 2013. He
will be responsible for the Law, Compliance and Government Relations
functions, will be a member of the company’s Executive Committee, and
will report to ADM Chairman, CEO and President Patricia A. Woertz. He
replaces Marschall Smith, who is leaving ADM to enter private practice.

legal, regulatory, compliance, and public policy issues,” said Woertz.
“He brings to ADM an impressive range of experience in business,
government and the law, and I am pleased that he is joining our
leadership team.”

Findlay joins ADM from Medtronic, Inc., the world’s largest medical
device manufacturer, where he has served as senior vice president,
general counsel and secretary since 2009. Prior to joining Medtronic, he
was executive vice president and general counsel at Aon Corporation, a
global insurance, risk management and human resources firm, from
2003-09. In addition to his time as a general counsel, Findlay has also
had a distinguished career in government service, including at the White
House as deputy assistant to President George H. W. Bush, at the U.S.
Department of Labor as deputy secretary, and at the U.S. Supreme Court
as a law clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia. Findlay has also been a
partner in the global law firm now known as Sidley Austin LLP.
Findlay earned a B.A. from Northwestern University, an M.A. from Oxford
University, which he attended as a Marshall Scholar, and a J.D. from
Harvard Law School.
