- ADM recognized for its integrated approach to managing environmental data
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Independent research firm Verdantix recognized Archer Daniels Midland
Company (NYSE: ADM), along with project partners CH2M and IHS, with an
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Information Management Award for
the implementation of ADM’s comprehensive environmental information
management system, Project GEMINI (Global Environmental Management
Information Network Initiative).
“This award is a testament to the hard work of our colleagues, working
in concert with our implementation partners CH2M and IHS,” said Mark
Calmes, ADM’s vice president, Environmental. “Having a defined and
standardized EMIS that supports our global environmental management
system has helped enhance our compliance efforts. At the same time, we
are reaping the benefits of the efficiencies that come through
streamlining data management.”
Through Project GEMINI, ADM has been able to implement stronger
environmental procedures, better visibility of environmental performance
and consistent and accurate tracking of global metrics to enable
evaluation and trend analysis across their global operations.
IHS Sphera® Essential™ was selected as the right technology solution for
the project because it had the capabilities: compliance, tasking,
audits, air, water, waste, fugitives, chemical inventory and more;
flexibility; and scalability needed for global implementation. Global
program management and environmental consultant CH2M came on board to
help plan and implement the software deployment and has continued to
provide support with data gathering, software configuration, training,
organizational change management and software sustainment.
The project has sparked a renewed energy toward environmental
improvement throughout ADM, and when the implementation is complete,
GEMINI will be used by thousands of ADM employees – working in 10
languages – at more than 700 facilities around the world.
Verdantix recognized the achievement at its inaugural EH&S Information
Management Awards at the Verdantix Summit 2016: Getting Value from EH&S
Information Management in Chicago.
